Independent living

Supported Living

Structured support designed around personal outcomes, daily living skills and meaningful community participation.

Support that builds confidence, skills and control.

Supported living is about helping a person live as independently as possible in their own or separately arranged home. Support is shaped around individual goals, daily routines, communication needs, risks and the level of assistance required.

Support can be built around

  • Daily living skills such as cooking, shopping, budgeting and household routines.
  • Personal care where this is assessed, agreed and within our CQC-registered scope.
  • Medication support in line with the person’s plan and staff competency.
  • Appointments, activities, relationships and community participation.
  • Developing confidence, choice and greater independence over time.
  • Structured support, including planned daytime, evening, sleep-in or waking-night arrangements where commissioned and safely resourced.

Housing and care remain separate

NCRYSTAL does not present accommodation as a condition of receiving care. Where supported-living arrangements involve a landlord or housing provider, housing rights and care arrangements should remain appropriately separate so the person retains choice and control.

Assessment before placement

We review each referral carefully, including needs, communication, behaviours or risks, staffing requirements, environmental factors, funding arrangements and compatibility with any proposed shared setting. We will not accept a placement unless we believe the service can meet the person’s needs safely and responsibly.

Regulatory scope

Supported-living support can include both regulated and non-regulated activities. Where NCRYSTAL provides personal care, that activity is delivered only within the scope and conditions of our current CQC registration.
