Safeguarding

Everyone has the right to be safe.

NCRYSTAL Health treats safeguarding as a core responsibility. Abuse, neglect, exploitation, discriminatory treatment and avoidable harm are not acceptable. Staff are expected to recognise concerns, respond promptly, record accurately and escalate in line with safeguarding procedures.

If someone is in immediate danger

Call 999 if there is an immediate risk to life or serious harm. Where there is a safeguarding concern that is not an emergency, contact the relevant local authority safeguarding service and notify NCRYSTAL where appropriate.

How we respond

• Take immediate steps to reduce risk where it is safe to do so.
• Listen to the person and respect their wishes as far as possible.
• Preserve evidence and record concerns factually.
• Escalate to the appropriate manager and external safeguarding authority where required.
• Share information proportionately and lawfully.
• Cooperate with enquiries, investigations and protection planning.

Speaking up

Workers are expected to raise concerns about unsafe practice, abuse, neglect, fraud or attempts to conceal incidents. Concerns raised in good faith are treated seriously and should not result in retaliation.
